On April 12, 2023, members of Springfield Township Board of Commissioners and Township Staff traveled to Harrisburg for the Governor's Award for Local Government Excellence. Springfield Township was recognized in Harrisburg with the “Innovative Planning and Sound Land Use Practices” award. Commissioners Mike Maxwell and Peter Wilson, Assistant Township Manager Brandon Ford and Director Parks and Recreation Emily Baiada (pictured below) were present to receive the award.
The Governor's Awards for Local Government Excellence recognizes local governments that have found creative ways to improve their communities. Springfield Township was honored with the Governor's Award in Innovative Planning and Sound Land Us Practices for projects such as the Mermaid Park Stream and Habitat Restoration, Chiaramonte Park ADA Playground Improvements, 1725 Walnut Avenue/Tank Car Park Redevelopment, Bysher Fields ADA Improvements, and the upcoming Cisco Park Playground Rehabilitation. These projects serve as a testament to Springfield Township's commitment to invest and improve our park system and local environment for the benefit of the community!
