National Test 2

This Wednesday, October 4 2023, FEMA, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and the Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA). The test will consist of two portions, testing EAS (radio and television) and WEA (cell phone) capabilities. Both tests are scheduled to begin at approximately 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4.

The purpose of the national test is to ensure that Wireless Emergency Alerts and the Emergency Alert System continue to be effective ways to warn the public about emergencies, particularly those on the national level. No action is needed by the public once the national test is received.
