Township Awarded $250,000
Springfield Township is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a 2026 Montco 2040 Implementation Grant in the amount of $250,000 for the Municipal Solar Project.
Through this project, Springfield Township will install photovoltaic panels on the roofs of three municipal buildings. The combined system is expected to produce 450,300 kWh of energy. Excess energy generated will offset usage from the Springfield Township library, lowering the greenhouse gas emissions of both the municipal campus and the library. The Township will use this project to get closer to its goal of transitioning its buildings and vehicles to 100 percent clean energy by 2050, as well as to stabilize operating costs and improve resiliency.
