The tropical storm that swept through our area last night brought with it significant flooding, downed trees, and substantial property damage. Here are a few updates on the Township's response as of 10:00AM on Thursday Sept. 2, 2021:
Storm Cleanup Underway Throughout the Community
Township emergency management personnel (i.e. Police, Fire and Public Works) worked throughout the night responding to water rescues (vehicle and residential), flooded roadways and residential property damage. Township crews will continue to assess damage and work throughout the day in response to yesterday's storm.
Residents should keep in mind that there is still a flood warning until 11AM today, so please be alert when driving through waterway areas.
Reporting Property Damage
If your property has experienced storm-related damage:
- Fill out a Montgomery County Damage Assessment Form: https://veoci.com/veoci/p/links/MontcoDamageAssessmentForm.
- If your property sustained storm-related damage, please report all damages to OEM@springfieldpd.org. Please include your name, address, telephone number, the type of damage you have sustained to your property (structural or otherwise), and lastly whether the damage was substantial and/or has left your home uninhabitable. Use of this e-mail reporting form will ensure that a comprehensive list is created for assessment activities.
If your storm-related damage is a true emergency, call 911.

Refuse Collection to Occur on Schedule
Refuse Recycling & Leaf Waste Collection is continuing as per usual.
Township Operations
Free Library of Springfield Township is closed today, but is expected to reopen Friday, September 3rd.
Power Outages
Residents that experience a power outage should call PECO at 1-800-841-4141. Do not assume that a neighbor has already reported an outage in your area. PECO prioritizes residential restoration efforts based upon the number of outages in a neighborhood.
Please refrain from calling the Township to ask for the status of power restoration as we do not have access to that information.
