Torres 2

The Springfield Township Board of Commissioners welcomed two new officers, Ofc. Yelidsa Torres & Ofc. Michael Fantry, to the Springfield Township Police Department (STPD) with a ceremonial swearing in ceremony by Magisterial District Judge Katherine McGill at the Commissioners regularly scheduled Business Meeting on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. Officers Torres and Fantry are the latest two additions to the STPD since the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic in early 2020.

The ceremony was extended to include two other relatively new officers, Ofc. Andrew Seltzer & Ofc. Jennifer Litwinowicz, both of whom were hired by the Commissioners during the height of the pandemic in late 2020 and early 2021 and did not receive a public ceremony. Although they have been sworn in and actively protecting the welfare of the community well before the Nov, 10 meeting, the Township wished to extend the traditional ceremonial welcoming to Officers Seltzer & Litwinowicz.

Three additional officers were recognized by the Commissioners for having been promoted during the pandemic. Rebecca Mersky was celebrated for having been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in the STPD, Nelson Whitney III for having been promoted to the rank of Sergeant in the STPD, and Christopher Calhoun for having been promoted to the rank of Corporal in the STPD.

Springfield Township welcomes our new officers and celebrates the hard work and dedication for those who were recognized for their promotions. Below are some photos from the ceremony:
