Keeping Your Vehicle Safe

Walking into a cold car on a freezing morning can sound especially unappealing, however, it is important to keep your vehicle safe even if only warming it up in the morning. Springfield Township Police Department would like to remind residents to lock automobile doors, not to store keys or key fobs in their vehicles, and not to leave a running vehicle unattended in order to prevent stolen items or stolen vehicles. 

This reminder comes in lieu of an attempted vehicle theft and stolen items from unlocked vehicles in the Northwoods section of the Township and a neighboring community. Here are some more tips for keeping your vehicle safe from theft:

• Make sure car windows are closed
• Remove keys from the vehicle
• Do not leave valuables in the car
• Keep the car doors locked at all times
