Our region has experienced an uptick in thefts from vehicles, including catalytic converters and have had some success in identifying perpetrators of these crimes using home camera systems. Several years ago, the Springfield Township Police Department (STPD) instituted the SafeWatch Security Camera Registration Program. Approximately 60 addresses are currently registered with the STPD. Home and business owners are encouraged to voluntarily share video from cameras on their properties to assist police with investigations, and hopefully identify suspect(s) and arrest those responsible.
