Arbor Day Tree Giveaway
Every April, Springfield’s Shade Tree Commission hosts an Arbor Day celebration that consists of a free tree giveaway and tree planting demonstration. Last year’s festivities included a raffle to win one of 20 available trees. This year, the Arbor Day Celebration will include a raffle to give away 30 trees to private residences, a tree dedication and planting ceremony, and guest speakers. Registration for this event will begin in April. Check the Township website and social media pages for more information this April.
Tree Donation Program
Last year, the Springfield Township Shade Tree Commission re-launched our community’s Tree Donation Program! Groups and individuals can once again donate a tree in honor of a loved one, in memory of a friend/family member, or as a general tree donation to help preserve and strengthen our local tree canopy. Donors may share their preferred native tree species and planting location in any of our public parks using our tree donation form, available on the Township website. Exact size, species, and location will vary based on availability and need. Plantings occur every spring and fall.
