If you are interested in improving our environment and how Native Plants can play a key role, please join us for an evening discussing actions we can take locally. We believe it will be well worth your time. The Springfield Township Environmental Advisory Commission (EAC) invites you to:
- View a video regarding the benefits of Native Plants, shrubs, and trees;
- Discuss the Homegrown National Park initiative; and
- Learn an easy no-dig solution for adding a plant bed around trees or in your lawn.
We will be watching a presentation of Dr. Douglas Tallamy’s works. Dr. Tallamy is a noted author and advocate for Planting Native Plants as our best hope for supporting insects, pollinators, birds, and our entire food web.
We will also be discussing Dr. Tallamy’s Homegrown National Park initiative. This initiative includes a website that tracks plantings of Native Plants in our yards across the US and Canada. https://homegrownnationalpark.org/. Lastly, we will be sharing ideas on how to create a no dig garden bed around existing trees or in your lawn.
The Springfield Twp. EAC meets on the 4th Wednesday of every month at 7PM in the Free Library. EAC meetings are open to the public. Residents are encouraged to attend and take part in promoting/protecting our local environment!
