Many people are affected either directly or indirectly by substance use disorder and other mental health crises. Addiction knows no boundaries, which is why it is imperative to raise awareness and support those who are impacted by the disease. Less stigma around substance use disorder creates a better understanding, more support, and more lives saved. The Springfield Township Opioid Action Committee (STOAC), supported by the Springfield Township Board of Commissioners, is organizing a No Stigma/No Shame Day this spring to call attention to substance abuse disorder and mental health issues.Â
No Stigma/No Shame Day is planned for April 19, 2023 and aims to foster creative ways our community can contribute to reducing the stigma and shame surrounding mental health issues and substance use disorders. To join the cause or ask questions, email stoac2019@gmail.com.
